Several Accepted God's Free Gift of Grace

I am back in the US and trying to recover from the jet lag. It seems to have really gotten me this trip. I have so many good things to tell you about. I am going to try to split them up over the next few days. We had a few days that we spent in Togoville. The first day we went to walk around the camp property, and then jumped into a pick-up game of soccer by the local high school. While a few from our group played, a few others walked around and talked with people.

A man walked up to me and asked for the papers I was passing out, so I gave him a stack of tracts. I did not think much of it and entered into a conversation with a young guy named Kokou. As the conversation turned to spiritual things, he became more interested. When he understood God's gift of salvation, we made our way away from the crowd near the parked van.  Just before he bowed his head, Martin, who I had met earlier, came over to tell me he was all out of tracts. I asked him to go back and finish reading the one I had given him and then I would speak with him. Just a moment later, Kokou bowed his head and gave his life to Christ.

I made my way across the street to the mechanic's shop and talked with Martin. He told me he understood that there is a God that created everything, and that we as people need to have a relationship with Him. I was able to share with Martin how to have that relationship and he gave his life to Christ a few moments later. We were able to return to Togoville the following day and give them both French Bibles.

Jonas also had an opportunity to share with a few people, and a man named Loran trusted Christ as Savior. Loran has helped Rene coordinate the land transaction in Togoville since the beginning. We all celebrated over the victories of the past few days.

There are areas of Togo where the people are more receptive than others. Some of this has to do with the people groups, religious views, vocations, and traditions. It has been a very long time since I have seen a group of people so eager to hear the truth. I firmly believe it is because of your prayers. Please continue to pray that God will work in the hearts of the people in Togoville. Our plan right now is to plant the first church in Togoville. This will be a strategic launching pad for the other churches in the near vicinity.
