Monday afternoon thoughts

This caught my attention because someone is finally telling the truth. The world jumps on bandwagon causes because the money is flowing. We must believe in the cause and therefore do everything we can to make it a reality. Unfortunately, many jump from money tree to money tree. The goal is then no longer rescuing the lost and forgotten, but raising one more dollar from a well to do donor. We must keep the main thing the main thing and not believe everything we see. It is about people. Yes, resources are definitely needed, but we must start by giving part of our lives instead of just throwing money at situations.....Just a few Monday afternoon thoughts........

"Charities raise money for starving Africans. What do Africans do? They starve. But mostly they starve in our imaginations. The starving African is a Western cultural archetype like the greedy Jew or the unctuous Arab."

"In a recent phone conversation, Ms Polman told me that the "starving African" story is not just the easiest to tell, especially in a continent that does not generate much international media coverage, but is also the most "politically correct." After all, who in their right mind would want to be accused of doing nothing for dying people?"

"The cosy relationship between aid workers and journalists has thus distorted the way Africa is reported. Journalists often do not get to the heart of the story or take the time to do the research into the causes of a particular crisis. Africans do not feature much in their stories, except as victims."

I appreciate what you and others are doing for Christ. I am moved by the families that have given up everything for believing in Jesus as Savior. Thank you for speaking to us here about the ministry God has charged you with. My whole family has asked questions about why Amber and Cathy want to travel to see you and meet the people you minister to. Thank you for putting our hearts and minds in the right place. We need to show people that ALL things are possible through Christ. I think maybe the African people are victimized most by our complacent ignorant attitudes and our need to simply do something to make ourselves feel better for not doing the things we know we should. James tells us to VISIT the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to stay with out spot from the world. I
take being unspotted as meaning keep clear of the world view and see through Christ's eyes. The African needs to know as all of us need to know that all things are possible with God. Jesus is the Creator and He can create a new me and a new you. He can create opportunities. Most of all He Loves us so much and is making a place for us in Heaven when we desire Him and want Him to be our Savior. A country that desires to make victims of people certainly is not interested in pointing to a Savior, but controlling an outcome. I pray the African people are blessed with the hope that comes from a Savior and recognize that Americans that are true Christians are first citizen patriots of Christ's Kingdom and not of any worldly domains. Thanks for sharing your thought JJ.
Love in Jesus the Christ,
