Thanksgiving

While there are hundreds of things that we can be thankful for, there is one event that is at the forefront of my mind. Melissa has been leading Courtyard Kids every week at our home. Yesterday, there were about 120 kids that showed up. She was hoping to see one little boy in particular. This 4 year old guy has come all 4 weeks so far. She could tell that he was from a poor family. Yesterday the boy came with heat rash all over his body and sores on his feet.
After all the kids left, Mel gave him a shower while Maz translated. It was his first shower from a faucet. After the shower, she gave him a pair of flip flops. She had to teach him how to put them on, because they were the first pair of shoes the boy has ever owned.
Maz, Mel, and the little boy then walked back to his house so that she could meet his parents. When she met the little guy's grandmother, Melissa found out that he does not have a dad around and the mom has been gone for 3 months. When she looked to find his bed, Mel was told that he sleeps wherever he falls asleep on the sand. All this to say, the whole situation has been one more reminder of what we have to be thankful for.

That is the most awesome reminder! I absolutely love the demonstration of Christ's love in action :)
