My sister Erin and her husband Mylan came to Togo to visit for 3 weeks. It was the first time her husband had been to Africa and her first time back in 7 years. They split their time between my parents home and ours.
Last week we all traveled to the northern part of Benin to the Penjari game park. Melissa and I traveled up Benin and spent the first night at a hotel in Parakou. It was a nice little hotel run by a French lady.
We continued the second day to a waterfall with huts around it. Each couple rents a hut for the night. We took showers with the water from waterfall and had generator power for a few hours each night. Melissa and my mom brought all the food with us for the 4 days. Each morning the baboons and monkeys come to the waterfall for water. It is a neat experience to swim in the water and watch monkeys on the rocks.
The third day we went into the park and drove around for the day. That night we stayed in the rooms at the hotel. We got up early the 4th day to see the animals at first light. We were able to see most everything the park has to offer except lions. It was a great few days to get away with my family while my sister was here. We do have more pictures on our facebook page.
