Day 6

Sunday morning we started church at 9 am. It was probably the best service that we have had in Kpadape in the last 16 months. It was not just the fact that we had 70 people, but the excitement from beginning to end. Jonas preached a sermon from James 5 and included the fact that we might not just be cheating the poor, but could also be steeling from God. Near the end of the invitation, 12-15 people came forward and gave their offerings in the basket, even though we had already passed the basket earlier in the service.

We have been working through very normal issues in this church, one of which being our giving to God. People have been struggling to eat in the village because of the planting season, and God has not been blessing because of their lack of giving. It was such an encouragement to see the Holy Spirit so clearly at work. God will always take care of His church.

Immediately after the service I was able to baptize two young ladies. Both have been saved for some time, but just finished the discipleship/baptism process. We try to make sure they understand that their decision is one to follow Jesus and not just add Him to all the other gods.

We drove away at 11 am on Sunday morning with a van full of gifts from the people. They gave us food, popcorn, bananas, and whatever else they could give. It was truly a great ending to the mobile camp in Kpadape. We are praying for the church to disciple the new believers and assimilate them.
