Soccer player trusted Christ

We have now been in our house for about three weeks. It has been great to finally have a place to call home. Melissa and I had a conversation at dinner tonight about how long things take. One example has been her appliances for cooking. We brought a stove from the US. As I was trying to convert it from natural gas to propane, I saw that two screws are missing. Most of the time, this would not be a big deal. I drove into Lome to find these two screws. Absolutely none in Lome. She has upgraded her cooking from the camping stove to the burner on the grill out back. I am trying to find a way to get these two little screws from the US. Two months and counting for Mel without a stove.

Jonas, myself, and a few others have been playing soccer at the beach lately. Jonas has had three excellent conversations with a guy named Tata. Jonas went over to Tata’s house and sat in his room. Tata had been weighing his decision around what to do with his idols in his room. While Tata was bowing his head and praying to trust Christ, his father came in and picked up the idols and walked out. Jonas is now planning a rendezvous with Tata’s father to share Christ. Please pray for Tata that he grows as a young Christian, as well as his father’s salvation.

The youth group from our home church in Jacksonville will be with us in about a week. We are planning a big day in the village church of Kpadape.  The afternoon will include games, prizes, and a Christian film. There are 6000 in the village, so please pray that we have a great turnout and that God works in an incredible way.

Well, I am headed out the door right now to drive up to Kara with Mazema. We are picking up some supplies, as well as meeting with a pastor along the way. Will try to blog again in a few days.
